Flash floods strike KL again

Several parts of Kuala Lumpur were flooded today, including the area near Parliament.

According to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the flooded areas are:

1. Jalan Kuching
2. Jalan Tunku Abdul Halim
3. Jalan Sematan
4. Pintasan Segambut
5. Jalan Segambut
6. Jalan Kinabalu (Bulatan Merdeka)
7. Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah
8. Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar

Several social media users began reporting floods since around 3.30pm.

At 4pm, DBKL reported that roads near Parliament were already flooded.

Just three months ago, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had convened a special meeting of the Dewan Rakyat to discuss matters concerning flooding.

DBKL’s social media account also showed that Dataran Merdeka was partially flooded while traffic there was gridlocked.

Twitter user @Ano_hidayah reported that there was flooding on Jalan Ampang near the Masjid Jamek LRT station, which was not far from the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers.

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil shared a video clip on his Twitter account, depicting flooding in Jalan Maarof - near Midvalley - with at least three submerged vehicles.

The last time Kuala Lumpur faced major flooding was in December last year.
